Book sale at Town of Esopus Library
WHAT: Fall Festival Book Sale
WHEN: Preview sale on Sept. 22 from 5 to 7:30 p.m., and Sept. 23 and 24 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
WHERE: Town of Esopus Library, 128 Canal St., Port Ewen
DETAILS: The library will host its Fall Festival Book Sale. The preview sale on Sept. 22 is open to the public. Refreshments will be provided. Books for all ages will be sorted and offered at reasonable prices. The sale’s final day will include a $4 bag sale. The event is sponsored by the Friends of the Library.

Lecture will examine vote on Constitutional Convention
WHAT: Lecture WHEN: Oct. 12 at 6:30 p.m.
WHERE: Morton Memorial Library, 82 Kelly St., Rhinecliff
DETAILS: Rhinebeck Grange No. 896 will present an informational lecture titled “New York State Constitutional Convention: Yes or No?” The state Constitution mandates that every 20 years voters will be asked the following question: “Shall there be a convention to revise the constitution and amend the same?” The next referendum will take place Nov. 7. The presentation, led by Paul Niedercorn, explain what the state Constitutional Convention is, why it is important to state residents and the process in which it unfolds. The lecture is meant to inform voters in an impartial manner in order that every citizen can vote with clarity this coming November. A question-and-answer period will follow. Admission is free.
