Kingston opens season with win over Rhinebeck

Kingston High opened its OCIAA girls swim season with a 100-62 victory over Rhinebeck.

Five different swimmers won individual events, as Kingston High opened its Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association girls swim season with a 100-62 victory over Rhinebeck.

Eleanora Meyer captured the 200-yard freestyle in a Section 9 qualifying time 2:12.85 for the Tigers, while Mackenzie Quinn was victorious in the 50 freestyle in a Section 9 qualifying time of 27.18. Evangilia Demosthenes won in diving with 178.90 points.

Other individual wins came from freshman Alexandra Mitchell in the 100 freestyle (58.40) and Alexa Peck in the 500 freestyle (5:50.86). In addition, Mitchell and Kelly Manley, who finished second and third, respectively, in the 50 freestyle, had Section 9 qualifying times.

Kingston, which swam exhibition the last three events, won

two relays, with Manley, Mitchell, Emily Constance and Helen Wunderlich winning the 200 medley relay in 2:01.60 and Mitchell, Peck, Emily Hakim and Mackenzie Quinn winning the 200 free relay in 1:49.09.

Miya Vitale captured the 200 IM and 100 butterly to lead Rhinebeck. Camdyn was victorious in the 100 backstroke, while Shea Jenkins captured the 100 breaststroke. Sierra Dahl, Reagan Schweppe, Erin Behrens and Casey Schulkind, meanwhile was first in the 400 freestyle relay.
