Isabelle Marie (Hervet) Lacassagne, 104, of New York City

NEW YORK CITY » Isabelle Marie Lacassagne, (nee Hervet), age 104, of New York City, passed away in the arms of her daughters at the home of her daughter Denise, in Hurley on Sept. 8, 2017, the feast of The Nativity of The Blessed Virgin Mary. She was born in France to the late Yves and Marie (Guillou) Hervet.

She was preceded in death by her former husband, Lucien Lacassagne; her sisters, Marie Anne Hervet and Francoise Lijour (nee Hervet); and her brother, Jean Hervet.

She was a loving mother and is survived by her two daughters, Monica (Monique) (Lacassagne of New York City, and Denise Loheac (nee Lacassagne) and her husband Joel of Hurley. She is survived by two grandchild­ren, Michelle Loheac and her husband Timothy Whitwood of Geneva, N.Y., Andrew Loheac of Chapel Hill, N.C.; and her great-grandson Theodore (Ted) Whitwood.

She left France at the age of 17, to come to New York City, in order to realize her dream of becoming a beautician. Over the course of many years, she worked in some of the top salons of New York City. Her clientele included Eleanor Roosevelt, Mamie Eisenhower and many other prestigiou­s women. She was a lifelong learner. Some of the programs of study which she completed were: Wilfred Beauty School; and attending Fordham University after she had retired.

She was a devout Catholic all her life. Isabelle was also very active in her community. Her warm smile, her zest for life, and her many acts of charity brightened the lives of many whom she encountere­d in her long life.

Visiting hours will be Thursday, Sept. 14, 2017, 6 to 9 p.m., and Friday 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p..m at Crestwood Funeral Home, 445 West 43 St. N.Y.C.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Malachy’s Church-The Actors’ Chapel, 239 West 49th St. N.Y.C. on Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017, at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Raymond’s Cemetery, Bronx, N.Y.
