CLERMONT » Carol E. McCarthy, 84, a longtime Clermont resident, passed away on Monday, Sept. 18, 2017, at her home.

Born on Aug. 9, 1933, in Queens, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late George Schultheis and Alvina (Mecke) Schultheis.

Carol married Robert T. McCarthy on Aug. 11, 1951, in Queens, N.Y., and he predecease­d her on July 19, 2002.

In addition to raising her family, Carol worked as a bookkeeper with The First National Bank of Red Hook.

Active in her community, Carol was a member of the Clermont Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and the Southern Tier Senior Citizens.

She is survived by her daughters, Lori McCarthy of Clermont, N.Y., and Susan Phillips of Boca Raton, Fla.; her sons, Scott McCarthy of Red Hook, N.Y., and Thomas McCarthy of Boca Raton, Fla.; a brother-in-law, Bruce McCarthy of Knoxville, Tenn.; along with eight grandchild­ren, 13 great-grandchild­ren, extended family and friends.

In addition to her husband, she was predecease­d by her son, Bob E. McCarthy, and a sister, Evelyn Murray.

Funeral services will be private.
