Margaret A. “Peg” (Loughran) Gutridge, 76, of Madison Avenue, died on Sept. 18, 2017 after a nearly four-year battle with cancer.

Born in Kingston and formerly of Lake Katrine, N.Y., Peg graduated from Kingston High School in 1959 and later in life earned an associate’s degree, with honors, at SUNY Ulster in Stone Ridge, N.Y. Peg was also employed at SUNY Ulster for over 27 years in various department­s, including the Registrar’s and Dean’s offices. She was previously employed parttime by the Hudson Valley Federal Savings Bank in Kingston while raising her children.

Following her retirement, Peg volunteere­d for several years at People’s Place Thrift Store and Food Pantry in Kingston.

Peg is predecease­d by her husband, Meryl, and leaves two sons, Jeffrey of Kingston and formerly of Boston, Mass., and Todd of Brooklyn, N.Y. She is survived by her brother, James Michael Loughran and his wife Patricia of Kingston and Naples, Fla. She leaves a niece, Deborah (Loughran) Gordon of Woodlands, Texas, and a nephew, Michael Loughran of Goshen, N.Y.

She was the daughter of the late James and Louise (Mellert) Loughran of Kingston.

Throughout her life, Peg was a member of Saint Peter’s Church in Kingston, Saint Catherine Laboure Church in Lake Katrine and Saint Joseph’s Church in Kingston. She was often praised for her culinary skills and loved to entertain family and friends. In addition, Peg and Meryl enjoyed traveling and visited numerous countries worldwide during their 50 years of marriage.

Funeral arrangemen­ts are under the guidance of the Joseph V. Leahy Funeral Home Inc., 27 Smith Ave., Kingston (www.jvleahyfh.com). Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. The funeral service will take place Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Saint Peter’s Cemetery, Kingston. Expression­s of sympathy may be made in the form of contributi­ons to Caring Hands Soup Kitchen, P.O.
