Onteora edges Rondout Valley in non-league play

Onteora High improved its record to 5-2 with a 3-2 nonleague victory over Rondout Valley. Halle King had two goals to lead the Eagles, which also got a goal from Olivia Ingalsbe.

Onteora High’s girls soccer team improved its record to 5-2 with a 3-2 non-league victory over Rondout Valley on Wednesday.

Halle King had two goals, Olivia Ingalsbe scored the other, and Grace Hallinan and Ashley Bernhardt each had assists to lead the Eagles.

Tori Cancellier­e and Tess Pitcock both scored and Annika Berlin had an assist for Rondout.

Onteora goalkeeper Kyle Apolito made one save and the Ganders’ Juliette Patterson had two. Marlboro 5, Millbrook 0

At Millbrook, Lizzy Lofaro scored four minutes in and (51) Marlboro quickly took control of its non-league affair.

Hannah Sullivan had two goals and two assists, Kali Schindler and Meagan O’Brien each had a goal and one assist and Taylor Kornfield added had an assist for the Dukes.

“The Marlboro defense played well, stopping a handful of dangerous Millbrook counter attacks,” Dukes coach Keith Walker said. “Kali Schindler and Liz Loscerbo did a great job of controllin­g the middle of the field.”

Alyssa Stoebling had three saves for Marlboro. Claire Matel and Jasmine Brace combined for 10 saves in goal for Millbrook.
