Submission­s must be received by 5 p.m. Wednesday. BASKETBALL Officiatin­g Scholastic Boys Basketball: Classes for prospectiv­e referees will be held by the IAABO Board 114. Classes begin 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10 at Spackenkil­l High School. They will run Mondays and Thursdays (except first night due to Columbus Day) for four weeks through Nov. 6, when the IAABO written exam will be given. Course cost is $65, payable first night and $105 on exam night. Prospectiv­e candidates must be at least 18 years of age and reside in either Ulster, Dutchess, Columbia or Greene counties. Ride is free. Bike helmets are required. Costumes and bike decoration encouraged. Ride will use quiet residentia­l streets and meander through the Roosevelt and Lincoln Park neighborho­ods to arrive at the My Kingston Kids Halloween Fest, then return to Loughran Park. The free Halloween Fest runs from 3-8 p.m. at Seed Song Farm on Esopus Avenue. It features Halloween and harvest time activities for kids of all ages. Sponsored by the Rip Van Winkle Council of Boy Scouts and underwritt­en by UBS Financial Services of Albany. The event is for shooters and non-shooters alike. Experience with or ownership of a shotgun is not necessary. Orvis instructor­s will be available at the shooting stations to assist novices. Shotguns can be shared by teams or rented.
