Anna M. Siebold, 96, of Rhinebeck, N.Y., passed away Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2017, at Northern Dutchess Hospital.

Born Jan. 7, 1921, in Tusa, Sicily, to the late Francesco Paulo and Orsola (Faulise) Sammataro, she immigrated as an infant through Ellis Island.

Following her marriage to Dyton George Siebold in February of 1947, Anna moved from her childhood home in Pawcatuck, Conn., to Rhinecliff, N.Y., and later to Rhinebeck. Anna was married 70 years to her husband George, who survives her.

She was a passionate homemaker for her family and held a variety of jobs. Anna first worked as an exceptiona­l cook for the Scanlon family in Rhode Island and during World War II she supported the war effort by working at Hamilton Standard, a propeller manufactur­ing facility. Later in her life she was employed at Rotron in Poughkeeps­ie.

Anna was a former parishione­r at the Good Shephard Church, an avid gardener, voracious reader and a master in the kitchen. She volunteere­d her time and taught food preservati­on classes for the Cooperativ­e Extension.

In addition to her husband, Anna is survived by her son, Paul Siebold and wife Ellen of Rhinebeck; her siblings, John (Jack) Sammataro of Pawcatuck, Conn., Carmella Moore of Stonington, Conn., and Rosemarie DeVivo of Wallingfor­d, Conn. Anna is also survived by three grandchild­ren, Alex Siebold of Aurora, Ohio, Maxwell Siebold of Middletown, N.Y., and Hannah Benga of Rhinebeck; two greatgrand­sons, William and Eric Siebold; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Anna is predecease­d by her daughter, Joan Siebold, and her sisters, Margaret Sarrasin and Josephine Urso.

Funeral arrangemen­ts will be held as a private service at the Rhinebeck Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Anna’s name to the Jayne Brooks Memorial Food Pantry at the Church of Messiah in Rhinebeck (P.O. Box 248, Rhinebeck, N.Y., 12572) or to the Rhinecliff Fire Department (P.O. Box 6, Rhinecliff, N.Y., 12574).
