18U Ulster Fillies strong in Onondaga tournament

The Kingston American Legion Post 150 Ulster Fillies opened their 2017-18 18U softball season by winning three of four games at the Onondaga Community College Invitation­al tournament.

The Kingston American Legion Post 150 Ulster Fillies opened their 2017-18 18U softball season by winning three of four games at the Onondaga Community College Invitation­al tournament.

Ulster began its campaign with 19-0 and 21-0 routs of the Conklin Raiders and Salt City Cyclones, respective­ly. It allowed just one earned run in a 5-4 loss to the Conklin Raiders Gold, then rallied for a 6-5 win over the Renegades Gold.

Tori Decker threw a twohitter in the win over the Raiders, supported in a 24hit onslaught from Shannon Bonewit (three singles, grand slam, five RBI), Megan Peace (two singles, two triples, four RBI), Alyssa Villielm (single, two doubles, four RBI), Alyssa Finno (two singles, two RBI), Jessica Chilcott (four singles), Taylor Decker (two singles) and Alex Mckearin (double).

Bonewit and Peace combined to two-hit the Cyclones. The Fillies banged out 18 hits in that game, including two singles, a double and three RBI from Bonewit, plus a single, double and two RBI from Peace. Joining in on the hit parade were Sydney Bonewit (single, triple, four RBI), Villielm (two singles, double, two RBI), Finno (triple, three RBI), Chilcott (single, triple) and Mckearin (two singles).

Decker took the loss against the Raiders Gold. Peace had a double and one RBI and Finno and Kailey Collins also drove in runs in that game.

Villielm had the gamewinnin­g walk-off hit and Shannon Bonewit threw two innings of relief for the comeback win over the Renegades Gold. Chilcott had a single, triple and one RBI, Finno and Mckearin both tripled and Peace and Collins each had two singles in that victory.
