KINGSTON » Colleen Ruth Joy, 90, of Kingston, N.Y., passed away on Thursday, Oct. 5, 2017, at Ferncliff Nursing Home in Rhinebeck.

She was born April 11, 1927, in Kingston, to the late William and Helen (Rorrick) Flanigan.

Colleen was married to Willard E. Joy, who passed away on June 20, 1986.

She attended the Immanuel Lutheran School and was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Kingston. Colleen worked for Nugent’s Clothing Store in Uptown Kingston for many years, and later as a dental assistant.

She was a member of the needlepoin­t group, “Skillkill Chapter of the American Embroidere­rs Guild,” where she taught classes in needlepoin­t, and restored tapestry. Some of her work had been displayed at Immanuel Lutheran Church and the Metropolit­an Museum of Art.

Colleen is survived by her sons, Terry (Joan) Joy of Kingston, Larry (Debra) Joy of Kerhonkson; her siblings, William Flanigan of Saugerties, BettyAnn VanBuren of Port Ewen; her grandchild­ren, Heather (Martin) Dixon, Jamie (Jason) Hasbrouck, Stacy (Ronald) Cardis, and Krista Fuller, her great-grandchild­ren, Alex, Kaitlyn, Mackenzey, and Emily; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predecease­d by her grandson, Shannon C. Joy, and her sister, Gloria Kremper.

Entrusted to the care of A. Carr & Son Funeral Home, 65 Lucas Ave., Kingston, N.Y. 12401, where family and friends may visit on Tuesday, Oct. 10, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The procession will form on Wednesday, Oct. 11, at 9 a.m. and proceed to Immanuel Lutheran Church, 22 Livingston St., Kingston, N.Y. 12401, where the funeral service will start at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Wiltwyck Cemetery, Kingston.
