Marlboro, Ellenville, Pine Plains post victories

Marlboro, Ellenville and Pine Plains highs’ football teams rolled to big Section 9 victories Friday.

The unbeaten Dukes are now 6-0 after a 56-0 rout of Red Hook, while Ellenville won its fourth in a row with a 34-13 triumph over Dover and Pine Plains edged Onteora 13-12. Marlboro 56, Red Hook 0

At Marlboro, the (2-0, 6-0) Dukes matched a season-high in points as they dominated this Class B Division I contest against (0-2, 1-5) Red Hook.

Marlboro scored 28 points in each half. It took control in the first quarter as Christian Diorio scored on a 32-yard run and Sam Mongelli tallied on a 6-yard carry. Muhammed Banks scored twice in the second quarter, returning a punt 49 yards and catching a 37-yard TD pass from Mongelli. Ellenville 34, Dover 13

At Dover Plains, the (2-0, 4-2) Blue Devils continued their sensationa­l year and gained sole possession of first place in Class C Division II with the win over (1-1, 2-4) Dover.

Anthony Walton rushed for two touchdowns to lead Ellenville, scoring on a 3-yard TD to start the game and rambled 65 yards for his other.

Sean Pettway’s 43-yard run helped the Devils to a 16-0 firstquart­er lead.

Zach Bonitz and Seth Vandemark scored on runs of 1 and 3 yards in the second half. The Devils rushed for 325 yards as a team.

Bryce Mill and Colin Belanger rushed for touchdowns for the Dragons. Pine Plains 13, Onteora 12

At Pine Plains, Matt Beam threw a touchdown pass to Matt Funk and Kyle Stracher rushed 28 yards for a score as (1-1, 3-3) Pine Plains/Rhinebeck won a key Class C Division I game over (0-2, 1-5) Onteora.

Stracher finished with 67 yards on seven carries and Beam ran for 30 to lead the Bombers.

Miles Eberhard had 10 carries for 81 yards and two touchdowns for the Eagles, while also completing 10 of 19 passes for 107 yards. Sam Cogan led the defense with a sack, five solo tackles and an assist, with Damon Wells (three solo tackles, five assists), Owen Allison (five solo tackles — three for a loss, one intercepti­on), Seth Kight (three tackles, one fumble recovery) and Chris Smith (three tackles) also contribute­d on defense. At Poughkeeps­ie, Dhyquem Lewinson and Nasir Milligan scored two touchdowns each to lead (2-0, 4-2) Spackenkil­l in a Class B Division II game versus Highland.

Lewinson sprinted 72 yards for a TD two minutes into the contest to put the Spartans ahead. Milligan made it 14-0 with a 61-yard burst. The Spartans then capitalize­d on a fumble with Lewinson’s 20-yard TD run to open a 21-0 advantage before the first quarter had ended.

Spackenkil­l stayed on the ground, scoring on Adam Loughran’s 1-yard carry in the second quarter, Brian Helfman’s 3-yarder in the third and Milligan’s 16yard run and Jayden Bennermon’s 1-yard plunge in the fourth.

Max Vidal scored on a 1-yard run just before the third quarter ended for (02, 0-6) Highland. Goshen 31, Wallkill 0

At Goshen, Wallkill (05, 0-6) played the (3-2, 3-3) Gladiators tough through the first half. Goshen pulled away with 28 unanswered points in the final half.

Max Heinrich’s field goal had Goshen ahead 3-0 at the break. Max Suarez rushed for two touchdowns, Robby Siracuse ran for one and Matt Giordano tossed a TD pass to Jake Kunis for the Gladiators.
