Onteora nets shutout of Webutuck

BOICEVILLE, N.Y. » Solid allaround play lifted Onteora High over Webutuck 3-0 in a Mid-Hudson Athletic League girls soccer match on Friday.

Sarah Beckwith gave the Eagles a 1-0 lead in the 24th minute and Ashley Bernhardt added a second in the 30th minute to make it 2-0 at the half. Hallie King kicked one between the posts in the 52nd minute to round Onteora’s scoring.

The (9-3-1) Eagles held a 16-2 edge in shots on goals and 5-1 advantage in corners.

Grace Hallinan stopped two to preserve the shutout for Onteora, while Laura Mendez registered 14 stops for the Warriors, who fell to (4-7-1). Wallkill 2, Highland 0

At Highland Iffy Ezedum’s goal in the 10th minute and Bradyn Wood’s goal in the 54th minute lifted the Huskies.

Briana Cross and Nora Serrao combined for eight saves for Wallkill, while Mollee Stafford recorded 14 for Highland in the loss. Roosevelt 4, Saugerties 1

At Hyde Park, Kara Sucato scored two goals as the Presidents downed the Sawyers.

Sydney Currier and Lyndsey Gander each scored a goal and Emma Rosco had an assist for Roosevelt.

The (4-8-0) Presidents held a 15-6 edge in shots and a 3-0 advantage in corners. Red Hook 5, Rondout 0

At Red Hook, the Raiders blanked the Ganders to improved to a 12-1, 9-0.

Lauren Engel’s goal in the sixth minute made it 1-0 and Anna Dolen’s kicked in another in the 12th minute to give Red Hook a 2-0 lead.

Grace Hennig connected on a Casey Stein assist in the 44th minute to push it to 3-0 and extended the Raiders lead to 4-0 six minutes later with an unassisted goal. Erika Ljutich put a Tessa Husted assist in the net in the 65th minute to round the scoring.

Red Hook dominated 28-2 in shots and 11-1 in corners.

Lauren Stokes had two saves for the Raiders, while Baylee Szekeres stopped 18 for the Ganders. Marlboro 4, New Paltz 1

At New Paltz, Hannah Sullivan and Lizzy Lofaro each had two goals for the Dukes.

After 33 scoreless minutes, Lofaro connected on a Sullivan assist to make it 1-0, then Sullivan put a Lofaro feed in net in the 38th minute to give Marlboro a 2-0 lead at the half.

Alyssa Hiesel put an Anna McDuffie assist between the posts in the 42nd minute for the Huguenots to make the score 2-1.

But Lofaro responded off a Kali Schindler assist in the 49th minute to extend the Dukes’ lead to 3-1 and Sullivan’s unassisted goal in the 62nd minute rounded the scoring for (83, 3-3) Marlboro.

“A well played game by both teams in the midfield,” Dukes coach Keith Walker said. “Marlboro took advantage of their finishing opportunit­ies.

“Both Lizzy Lofaro and Hannah Sullivan got great service from Kali Schindler who did a fantastic job of keeping the defense off balance with passes to both flanks.”
