Board names interim school superintendent
The Highland Central School District Board of Education appointed Thomas M. Bongiovi as a full-time interim superintendent.
Bongiovi assumed his new duties Oct. 11.
The Board of Education voted unanimously Oct. 3 to hire Bongiovi as an interim superintendent. He replaces Deborah Haab, who retired this fall after eight years as superintendent of schools. The school board hopes to hire a permanent superintendent by February 2018.
Bongiovi received a bachelor’s degree in history with a minor in education and political science from LeMoyne College, followed by a master’s degree from SUNY Stony Brook. He holds a school administrator and supervisor professional diploma from Dowling College and a school district administrator certificate from East Stroudsburg University.
From 2013 to July 2017, Bongiovi served as superintendent of the Port Jervis City School District.
