Mendelsohn will talk about book at Bard
The Richard B. Fisher Center for the Performing Arts at Bard College will host Charles Ranlett Flint, professor of Humanities at Bard College; and awardwinning memoirist and critic Daniel Mendelsohn to discuss his book, “An Odyssey: A Father, A Son, and an Epic,” with writer Nick Flynn.
The event will take place at 7:30 p.m., Oct. 20 in the Sosnoff Theater of the Fisher Center.
Mendelsohn’s book is a tale of a father and son’s transformative journey in reading — and reliving — Homer’s “Odyssey.” Flynn will join Mendelsohn to discuss the Odyssey’s themes of deception and recognition, marriage and children, the pleasures of travel and the meaning of home. A question-and-answer session and book signing will follow.
Tickets are $25 for the general public and free for Bard students, faculty and staff. They can be ordered at http://fishercenter.bard.edu or by calling the box office at (845) 758-7900.
