Author of FDR book to give lecture Oct. 19
David Kennedy, Pulitzer Prize winner and Stanford University professor emeritus, will discuss “Franklin D. Roosevelt: A Twentieth-Century Life” at Dutchess Community College on Oct. 19 at 7 p.m. in the James and Betty Hall Theatre.
Kennedy will talk about Roosevelt’s life, presidency and impact, framed through a comparison with his adversary Adolf Hitler. Kennedy is the author of numerous books, including “Freedom From Fear: The American People in Depression and War.”
The presentation is the inaugural event in the Dr. D. David Conklin Distinguished Lecture Series, established to recognize Conklin, who was Dutchess Community College’s fourth president. Conklin retired in 2014.
The lecture is free and open to the public.
