Ellenville coach Maxwell Mead collected the 100th win of his career and the Devils moved closer to a sectional berth with a 2-1 victory over John A. Coleman Catholic High School.

A pair of first-half goals carried the Ellenville High’s boys soccer team to a big victory as the Blue Devils inched closer to a sectional berth and earned career win No. 100 for coach Maxwell Mead. Ellenville defeated John A. Coleman Catholic 2-1.

“I didn’t want to put any extra pressure on them and I wanted them to want the W for the team. They got the job done,” said Mead, who kept the approaching milestone hidden. It was a busy enough evening, as it was also Senior Night and the annual Coaches vs. Cancer game.

Brandon Davenport tallied off a Isabella Sheth assist with a minute left in the match for (5-7 Mid-Hudson Athletic League, 7-7 overall) Coleman.

Daniel Mahany had five saves for the Devils, and Coleman keeper Jax Mautone made three.
