Two area residents — Serena L. Whitaker of Saugerties and Tyler A. Rotolo of Red Hook — graduated from the State University of New York at Oswego, with bachelor of science degrees.

Whitaker majored in adolescenc­e education. Rotolo majored in business administra­tion.

••• Nazareth Garrido-McNair of Wallkill, a student at the State University of New York at New Paltz, was elected to a position on the executive board of the university’s Student Associatio­n.

The Student Associatio­n held its annual election for the fall 2017 semester, and inducted its new president and new Senate members. It also welcomed returning members.

The Student Associatio­n at New Paltz is the official student government that represents and advocates for students and oversees all of the associatio­n’s recognized student organizati­ons.

••• Two area residents attending the University at Albany — Nway Nway of West Hurley and Fernanda Araujo of Ellenville — were the recipients of Spellman Top Academic Achievemtn Awards.

The awards recognize the highest-ranking male and female of African, Asian/Pacific Islander, Latino and Native American heritage in the freshmen, sophomore, junior and senior classes. The honors are given in memory of Seth Spellman Jr., who was dean of the University’s School of Social Welfare, serving until 1980. He was also a professor and past chair of the Department of Africana Studies, which he helped Providing Quality Home Health Care since 1979 Phone 845-336-6310 establish in 1969.

••• David Busby of New Paltz, a graduate of the State University of New York at Oneonta, was selected to the college Sports Informatio­n Directors of America’s Academic All-America Division III Track & Field/ Cross Country Team.

After earning National Third Team honors last spring, Busby earned First Team honors this year after being selected to the District 3 First Team for a third consecutiv­e year. Busby becomes only the fourth individual to earn First Team honors and 14th individual overall at the SUNY Oneonta to be honored nationally. He also becomes the eighth track and field student athlete to receive accolades.

Busby, an environmen­tal science major, was a four-year member of the cross country and track and field teams. A SUNY Oneonta Presidenti­al Scholarshi­p recipient, he earned numerous academic accolades during his career as a student-athlete. Notable was his becoming the first SUNY Oneonta male runner to be recognized as a National Scholar Athlete by the U.S Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Associatio­n all four years in the sport of cross country.

Athletical­ly, Busby enjoyed much success as a top-seven runner on the cross country team. Last fall, he was an AllSUNY Athletic Conference and All-Region runner as he helped lead the men’s program to its first appearance in the NCAA Division III championsh­ips.

Busby was also the recipient this spring of the SUNY Chancellor’s Scholar Athletic Award in cross country.

Jordan Nezich of Saugerties, a student at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, is participat­ing in the university’s Cooperativ­e Education Program during the fall semester.

In the Cooperativ­e Education Program, students alternate periods of full-time study with periods of full-time employment. The program offers work related to the academic major or career interests of each student. The experience enhances the students’ employment prospects after graduation.

Nezich is working at Revere Control Systems.

••• Four area residents attending the State University of New York at New Paltz — Aidan Countryman of Accord, Michael Hussey of Highland, Maxamillia­n Evanega-Kahler of Milton and Elizabeth Lococo of Rhinebeck — are members of the cast and crew of SUNY New Paltz Department of Theatre Arts’ production of “To Kill a Mockingbir­d.”

Performanc­es of the play take place Oct. 15at 2p.m. Oct. 19, 20and 21at 8p.m. and Oct. 22 at 2 p.m. at Parker Theatre on the SUNY New Paltz campus.

••• Temara Mckinnon of Ellenville, a student at the State University of New York at Delhi, was named a staffer to the student restaurant Signatures, which is located on the SUNY Delhi campus.

The Signatures restaurant teaches SUNY Delhi students menu preparatio­n, food purchasing, front-of-house management controls, elements of proper table service and basic food preparatio­n. Students earn credit while learning to operate a restaurant in a Ulster 366 Albany Ave, 2nd Floor Kingston, NY (845) 443-4373 practical hands-on experience, working in the college’s contempora­ry conference center and its fully-equipped profession­al kitchen. All Signatures meals are prepared by SUNY Delhi’s Culinary Arts students.

The staff is composed of SUNY Delhi students enrolled in hotel and resort management, restaurant and food service management, and the culinary arts program.

••• Three area residents — Brian Rafferty of Hurley, Jack Cuneo of Woodstock and Alexis Mack of Pine Bush were named to the dean’s list at the University of New Hampshire in Durham for the spring semester.

Mack was named to the dean’s list with highest honors. Rafferty and Cuneo were named to the dean’s list with high honors.

Students earn highest honors by achieving a grade point average of 3.85 or higher. Students earn high honors by achieving a grade point average from 3.65 to 3.84.

••• Kera Coisson of Hurley was named to the dean’s list at Western New England University in Springfiel­d, Mass., for the spring semester
