Bill Pullman receives, breaks award

‘Infinity Baby,’ “Shingal, Where Are You?” win top honors at Woodstock Film Festival at awards ceremony

KINGSTON, N.Y. » Bill Pullman received and broke his Woodstock Film Festival award right during the festival’s ceremony at BSP Kingston in Uptown on Saturday night.

Right after receiving the Excellence in Acting Award from Jared Moshe, Pullman slightly climbed the lectern and the award, which was placed to the right of it, fell from the stage and into the floor, breaking in two.

ture in Boiceville, who was seen in attendance earlier during the night.

“Oh, my God!” Pullman said. “I’ve got two awards tonight!” he added to laughter and applause.

Pullman returned to Woodstock on Sunday morning for the annual Actor’s Dialogue with novelist and celebrity interviewe­r Martha Frankel, who said on Sunday that Heller, who is her husband, had fixed the award.

During the awards on Saturday, “Infinity Baby” won the Best Narrative Feature award and “Shingal, Where Are You?” won Best Documentar­y feature at the 18th annual film festival, which concluded on Sunday.

The awards ceremony opened with Ulster County resident, tight rope walker and the subject of the Academy Award-winning documentar­y

“Man on Wire,” Philippe Petit, who introduced festival Co-Founder and Executive Director Meira Blaustein.

Ulster County Executive Mike Hein gave welcome remarks and touted the Ulster County as a film friendly area in love with the arts.

Among other awards given Saturday night:

The Feature Narrative Award went to Bob Byington for “Infinity Baby.” Honorable Mention went to Bruce Thierry Cheung for “Don’t Come Back from the Moon.” A special award for excellence in acting by an ensemble went to “Submission.”

The Best Documentar­y Feature went to “Shingal, Where Are You?” Honorable Mention went to “My Name Is Pedro.”

Best Narrative Short went “(le) Rebound.” Honorable Mention went to “The Foster Portfolio.”

Best Student Short went to “My Nephew Emmett.” Honorable Mention went to “TV in the Fishtail.”

The Ultra Indie Award went to “Beauty Mark.”

Best Animated Short went to “Pittari.”

Best Short Documentar­y went to “Mott Haven.” Honorable mention went to “The Tables.”

The Haskell Wexler Award for Best Cinematogr­aphy went to “The Sounding.” The James Lyons Editing Award For Narrative Feature went to Joe Murphy for “Don’t Come Back From The Moon.”

The James Lyons Editing Award For Documentar­y Feature went to Toby Shimin for “32 Pills: My Sister’s Suicide.”

The World Cinema Award went to “Girl In Flight.” The jury also gave a special mention to actress Lisa Ruth Andreozzi for her performanc­e in the film.

The Carpe Diem Andretta Award, presented to the film that best represents living life to the fullest, was awarded to director Lisa France and subject Gabriel Cordell for “Roll With Me.”

The previously announced Trailblaze­r Award was presented by Michael Lang to Shep Gordon. Gordon received the 2017 Trailblaze­r Award for his work in the independen­t film, music and culinary entertainm­ent industries.

Actress Susan Sarandon was to appear at a panel and at the ceremony on Saturday, but canceled her planned appearance­s due to illness, organizers said.
