On the move
Michael J. McGirr and George P. Gunning have been promoted by the Ulster County Sheriffs Office.
McGirr was promoted to assistant warden.
He started his career with the Ulster County Sheriffs Corrections Division in January 1990 as a corrections officer. He was promoted to sergeant in June 2001, to lieutenant in July 2012 and to captain in September 2017.
He is a 1984 graduate of Rondout Valley High School and attended Ulster County Community College from 1987 through 1998, majoring in accounting, with a minor in business management. A resident of Ulster County for 43 years, McGirr is a certified emergency medical technician and 33-year member of Kerhonkson-Accord First Aid Squad.
Gunning was promoted to lieutenant.
He started his career with the Ulster County Sheriff’s Corrections Division as a corrections officer in September 1998. In May 2000, he was promoted to corporal and, in June 2007, to sergeant.
A 20-year resident of Ulster County, Gunning received an associate’s degree in business administration and in 1994 received a bachelor of science degree from SUNY New Paltz. He was union president from 2010 to 2016. Dr. Tanya Thompson-Badamosi, of Hurley, N.Y. and an endocrinologist, recently joined the Health Quest Medical Practice primary care office in Hyde Park.
Endocrinologists diagnose and treat diseases caused by complications with hormones.
Thompson-Badamosi most recently was an endocrinology consultant at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson.
She completed her internal medicine residency and endocrinology fellowship at the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn. She earned her medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies.
She is board certified in endocrinology by the American Board of Internal Medicine. She is also a fellow of the American College of Endocrinology and a member of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists.
