Clifford A. ‘Cliff’ Tienken Sr., 77, of Malden-on-Hudson

MALDEN-ON-HUDSON » Clifford A.”Cliff” Tienken Sr., 77, of Main Street, died Sunday, Oct. 15, 2017, at his residence, after a short illness.

Born April 9, 1940, in the Bronx, a graduate of Kingston High School Class of 1958, he was the son of the late Norman and Gertrude Tienken. Cliff was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, and a Relay Technician Supervisor for Central Hudson for over 30 years, retiring in 1999.

Dedicated to the community, serving as a lifelong member of the Malden-West Camp Fire District, active Fire Commission­er and past Fire Chief; a member of the Saugerties Power Boat Assoc., a member and former Trustee of St. John’s Methodist Church in Malden; a member and committeem­an of the Town of Saugerties Republican Party.

An avid outdoorsma­n, in 1991 he was named No. 1 Bass Fisherman in New York state. He was a life member of the Saugerties Fish and Game Club, a certified NYS Bow Instructor, and a member of the Conservati­on Advisory Commission.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, the former Dorothy Flicker; a son, Cliff (Bonnie) Tienken; and a daughter, Kelly (Miguel) Umana; four grandchild­ren, Josh (Erica) and Dan Tienken, Amber Umana and Marina (Nicholas) Lopez; one great-grandson, Tyler Tienken; and a brother, Karl Tienken. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

He was predecease­d by a brother, Robert Tienken, and a sister, Norma McGrath.

Cliff’s funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home Inc., corner of John and Lafayette streets, Saugerties.

Interment will follow in Mount Marion Cemetery. Friends will be received Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
