Kingston places 3rd at OCIAA meet

Kingston High’s young girls swimming and diving team placed third Saturday at the Orange County Interschol­astic Athletic Associatio­n’s Division I championsh­ip meet.

The Tigers totaled 368 points with only champion MonroeWood­bury (435) and runner-up Pine Bush (368) ahead of them.

Senior Kelly Manley and freshman Alexandra Mitchell led Kingston. Manley took third (1:01.82) in the butterfly and fifth (1:04.34) in the backstroke. Mitchell was third (2:29.37) in the individual medley and fourth (5:36.80) in the 500-yard freestyle.

Eleanora Meyer, an eighthgrad­er, and sophomore Isabella Amaro also big days for the Tigers. Meyer took fourth (57.66) in the 100-free, while Amaro was sixth (58.46) in the 100-free and eighth (1:05.77) in the backstroke.

Meyer, Mitchell teamed with sophomore Mackenzie Quinn and eighth-grader Emily McCord to take third in the 200-free relay with a 1:46.79. Another eighthgrad­er, Angelina Vertuallo, joined Amaro, Manley and Quinn for fourth (1:59.17) in the 200-medley relay.
