Incumbents running uncontested for re-election
The town supervisor, two Town Board members and the town justice are running unopposed for re-election on Nov. 7.
Supervisor
Incumbent Paul Landi, 50, of 73 Melissa Road, is seeking a fifth two-year term. He’ll be on the Republican, Conservative and Independence lines on the ballot.
Landi has lived in the town since 1997 and works for Adams Fairacre Farms. He and his wife, Cheryl, have three children.
“We’re after a generator for our Town Hal — that’s a priority right now, and we’re getting a better handicapped[-accessible] door and ramps for the Town Hall,” Landi said.
“We’re going to have our Town Hall designated as an emergency relief area just in case of flooding, and currently the town does not have a generator and we need that to provide assistance for town residents to come in,” he said.
Landi graduated from Kingston High School in 1984 and is a member of the Ruby Rod and Gun Club and a volunteer with the Kingston Little League.
Town Board
Incumbent Councilman Larry Queipo, 73, of 1259 Sawkill Road, is seeking a third four-year term. He’ll be on the Republican, Conservative and Independence lines.
Queipo is retired from IBM and is an adjunct professor of technical communications at SUNY New Paltz.
Queipo has lived in the town since 1974. He and his wife Linda, the town historian, have two children.
Queipo earned a bachelor’s degree in English from American International College in Springfield, Ma., in 1969 and a master’s degree in technical communications from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1986.
He is a member of the Town of Kingston Senior Citizens Club and Hidden Valley Lodge.
Incumbent Councilman Ryan Polacco, of 89 Melissa Road, is seeking a second four-year term. He will be on the Republican line.
Polacco has been on the Town Board since 2012.
Polacco was not available to provide personal information.
Town justice
Incumbent Justice Richard Alberstadt, 77, of 357 Barbara Terrace, is seeking a 13th four-year term on the bench. He’ll be on the Republican, Conservative and Independence lines.
Alberstadt retired from IBM as senior system tester. He has lived in the town for 52 years, and he and his wife, Barbara, have one child.
Alberstadt graduated from McDowell High School in Erie, Pa. in 1959 and served in the U.S. Navy from 1959 to 1967.
