Betty Lee Kight, 92, of West Hurley

-

Betty Lee Kight, 92, passed away suddenly Friday, Oct. 27, 2017, at Albany Medical Center.

Born April 24, 1925, in Kingston, the daughter of the late Leon and Mary Koury Van Kleeck, and was an area resident most of her life.

She was a fiercely protective mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved to travel, especially by car and would’ve driven to Europe if an ocean wasn’t in her way and recently renewed her license for another eight years.

She loved animals and was known to rescue many, including cats, dogs, chickens and even a goat.

She played cards and dice with the best of them, was an avid Yankee fan and an enthusiast of the betting sports, including horse and greyhound racing, jai alai and, more recently, casino slots.

She had a wicked sense of humor and ruled the holiday dinners single handedly, only letting others do the dishes.

We each have our favorite stories about her and will carry them always in our minds and hearts, thus keeping her with us always.

She was predeceased by her husband William R. Kight, July 12, 1986, twin sons, William and Philip Kight, and her sisters, Carolyn Hyde and Ella Carney.

Friends will be received at memorial calling hours Thursday 3 to 7 p.m. at Lasher Funeral Home, Inc., 100 Tinker St., Woodstock. Contributions to West Hurley Rescue Squad, would be appreciated.
