Peter Gilbane Sr., 91, of Marble, N.C.
Peter Gilbane Sr., 91, of Marble, N.C., and formerly of Saugerties, N.Y., died Monday, Oct. 23, 2017, at his residence.
Peter was the son of Peter and Ellen Ward Gilbane, born on July 12, 1926 in Leitrim County, Ireland.
Peter, with his family, immigrated to the United States in 1961 and started his own business, and made Saugerties their home for many years before retiring to N.C. He was member of the Bricklayers & Allied Craftsmen.
In addition to his parents, his wife, Catherine E. McDonnell-Gilbane; two daughters, Cathie Gilbane and Eileen Haines; and a daughter-in-law, Cynthia Gilbane; three sisters, Eileen, Kathleen, and Mary; and four brothers, James, John, Josie and Willie, predeceased Peter.
Survivors include three sons, James of West Haven, Conn., Peter (Denise) of Marble, N.C., and Patrick (Karen) of Saugerties; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grand children; and a sister, Jane Moran of London.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, at Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, corner of John and Lafayette streets, Saugerties. Inurnment will follow in Blue Mountain Cemetery. Friends will be received on Saturday, Nov. 18, from noon to 2 p.m.
