Driver safety class slated for Dec. 2

Holiday cabaret luncheon on Dec. 4

Ulster County seniors are invited to a free holiday cabaret luncheon on Monday, Dec. 4, from noon to 2 p.m. at the Shawangunk Senior Center, 70 Main St.

Entertainm­ent will be provided by The Bronx Express Duo. Space for this event is limited. The deadline to RSVP is Thursday, Nov. 30.

Support group for caregivers available

A caregiver support group is being offered Mondays from 2 to 3:15 p.m. at the Golden Hill Nursing and Rehab Center, 99 Golden Hill Drive.

The program is being offered by Jewish Family Services of Ulster County in collaborat­ion with the Ulster County Office for the Aging.

The group allows caregivers to share their experience­s and wisdom with others in similar situations, offering relief, skills and answers to care giving concerns.

The program is free, but preregistr­ation is required and can be done by calling the Office for the Aging at (845) 340-3456.

An AARP driver safety class will be offered Saturday, Dec. 2, at the Town of Ulster Senior Center, 1 Town Hall Drive.

Sign in is at 8:30 a.m., with the class starting at 9 a.m. The class is scheduled to run six hours, but could go longer.

Successful completion of the course qualifies participan­ts for insurance discounts and points off their driver’s license. The cost is $25 per person, $20 for AARP members. All are welcome to attend, and there are no age or membership requiremen­ts.

Alzheimer’s educationa­l program for caregivers Dec. 7

The Ulster County Office for the Aging and the Alzheimer’s Associatio­n are offering a caregiver educationa­l program, “Virtual Dementia Tour for Caregivers.”

This hands-on activity simulates Alzheimer’s and dementia symptoms to help caregivers identify and cope with the behaviors and needs of someone with dementia. Thirty-minute appointmen­ts are available Thursday, Dec. 7, from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Woodland Pond, 100 Woodland Pond Road.

An RSVP is required and must be made by Monday, Dec. 4.
