Dennis A. “Denny” Roudis, 50, of Washington Ave., Kingston, died suddenly Sunday, Nov. 26, 2017, at Northern Dutchess Hospital.

Denny was born in Kingston, N.Y. on Nov. 13, 1967; a son of Jacqueline (Mottsey) Roudis and John R. Taylor, and the late Frank Roudis.

A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he was employed for the past 14 years as a correction officer with the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office. Denny enjoyed everything outdoors, including camping in Lake George and the North Lake area. Most paramount in Denny’s life was his family.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by two sisters, Deanna M. Guevara and her husband Luis, of Rifton, and Melissa A. Potter and her husband Kyle, of Hurley; and four nephews, Luis F. and Antonio Guevara, and Cameron J. and Landon J. Potter. Many aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive.

The family will receive friends at the Gilpatric-Van-Vliet Funeral Home, 339 Broadway, Ulster Park, Town of Esopus on Wednesday from 3 to 7 p.m.

The funeral will be held 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, The Rev. John T. Kearney will officiate. Military honors by Joyce-Schirick VFW Post 1386 Honor Guard will follow at the Town of Esopus American Legion Post 1298 Veterans Memorial in Port Ewen. Cremation at Wiltwyck Crematory will follow privately.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributi­ons in Denny’s memory to either: The Correction Officer’s Benevolent Associatio­n (COBA), 380 Boulevard, Kingston, N.Y., 12401, or Joyce-Schirick VFW Post 1386, 708 East Chester St., Kingston, N.Y., 12401.
