LOMONTVILL­E » George Worden, Jr., 91, a lifelong resident of Lomontvill­e, died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017, at his home. He was born in Kingston March 2, 1926; a son of the late Frederick and Julia Mae Wright Worden.

George had been employed as Plant Manager by Rotron Inc., in Woodstock, N.Y., retiring in 1991 after 37 years of employment. George had also previously owned his own constructi­on company, building many area homes. He also worked for roofing companies and worked as a truck driver.

George was a World War II veteran, serving two enlistment­s in the U.S. Army. He was awarded the Bronze Star for Bastogne, the Purple Heart for wounds received in the Battle of the Bulge, and Three Bronze Service Stars for Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe. He was also cited with EAME Theatre Ribbon, World War II Victory Medal, and Good Conduct Medal. George was also recently honored by Hudson Valley Honor Flight Veterans to attend memorials in Washington, D.C.

George was a 70-year member of the Marbletown Post 1512 American Legion, an 80-year member of the Lomontvill­e Fire Department, and a Life Member of VFW Post 1386 in Kingston. He served in many capacities in each organizati­on throughout the years.

He was a Hall of Fame member of the Kingston Bowling League, the Marbletown Bowling League and the Rotron Golf League. George also enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.

His wife Laura J. Worden died in 2007. He was also predecease­d by two daughters, Julie Miller in 2009, Jean Worden in 2016, and an infant son, Ralph Worden, in 1948.

He is survived by two daughters, Janet Carney (George) of Accord, June Wells (Donnie) of Lomontvill­e; and four grandchild­ren, Janet Kean, George Carney, Jr., Lorilee Kurz, and Zachary Wells. Also survived by four greatgrand­children, Kaytlynn Kean, Scott Kean, Joshua and John Kurz.

His funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the George J. Moylan Funeral Home Inc., 2053 Route 32, Rosendale. Rev. Caroline Bringer will officiate. Interment will Military Honors will be in the Palentown Cemetery, Olive Bridge.

Visitation will be at the funeral home in Rosendale on Tuesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
