George H. Campbell, 81, a longtime Milan resident, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 14, 2017, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeeps­ie, N.Y.

Born on March 7, 1936, in Rhinebeck, N.Y., he was the son of the late Harold and Emma Marie (Hart) Campbell.

George worked, until his retirement, as a public health educator with the Dutchess County Health Department, based out of Poughkeeps­ie. Friends will remember many years of good food and fun times when he owned Campbell’s restaurant in Pine Plains.

Active in local government, George was a former Dutchess County legislator and served as a councilman for the Town of Milan for 35 years.

He is survived by his longtime companion, Lottie Knickerboc­ker of Pine Plains, N.Y.; his brotherin-law, Robert Schroder of Milan; along with several nieces, nephews, extended family, colleagues, and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was predecease­d by his sister, Marie Schroder.

Friends may call at Burnett & White Funeral Homes on Monday, Dec. 18, 2017, from 3 to 5 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m.

Interment will be private

in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Barrytown.
