George H. Campbell, 81, of Milan
George H. Campbell, 81, a longtime Milan resident, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 14, 2017, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
Born on March 7, 1936, in Rhinebeck, N.Y., he was the son of the late Harold and Emma Marie (Hart) Campbell.
George worked, until his retirement, as a public health educator with the Dutchess County Health Department, based out of Poughkeepsie. Friends will remember many years of good food and fun times when he owned Campbell’s restaurant in Pine Plains.
Active in local government, George was a former Dutchess County legislator and served as a councilman for the Town of Milan for 35 years.
He is survived by his longtime companion, Lottie Knickerbocker of Pine Plains, N.Y.; his brotherin-law, Robert Schroder of Milan; along with several nieces, nephews, extended family, colleagues, and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Marie Schroder.
Friends may call at Burnett & White Funeral Homes on Monday, Dec. 18, 2017, from 3 to 5 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m.
Interment will be private
in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Barrytown.
