Holiday Fund donations top $8,000

KINGSTON, N.Y. » The Freeman’s 2017 Holiday Fund campaign has raised $8,097 to date thanks to the donations of readers.

The annual campaign, in its 41st year, runs from Thanksgivi­ng to Christmas.

The donations are distribute­d to the fund’s primary beneficiar­ies: The People’s Place of Kingston, Family, and the Community Action Agency programs in Dutchess, Greene and Ulster counties.

The fund was begun in 1977 and raised a total of $560,000 through the end of the 2016 holiday season.

Contributi­ons are accepted by mail or in person at Holiday Fund, Daily Freeman, 79 Hurley Ave., Kingston, N.Y. 12401.

All of the money goes to the charities. Administra­tive fees are paid by the Freeman.
