Theresa C. Greco, 95, of Athens

Theresa C. Greco, age 95 years, of Athens, passed away on Dec. 28, 2017, at The Pines Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center in Catskill, N.Y.

She was born on Feb. 26, 1922, in Newton Hook, N.Y., and was the daughter of the late Frank and Grace (Miniaci) Chiarella.

She attended the Rossman School in Columbiaville, N.Y. In 1938, she met the love of her life, Orlando Greco. They married in 1940 and moved to Athens, N.Y., that same year.

Theresa was employed for many years at The Kadin Brothers Pocketbook Factory in Athens, and Fran’s Dress Shop in Catskill, N.Y.

Theresa lived a life of complete selflessness. At one point, she cared for her uncle, her mother, and her mother-in-law in her home at the same time.

She lived a life of total love: Love for God and her church, love for her family and love for friends near and far.

Besides her parents, Theresa was predeceased by her husband, Orlando Sr.; her son, Orlando, Jr.; her brother, Angelo; and her sister, Frances Trippodi Chiarella.

Survivors include her son, Samuel (Debbie); her daughter-in-law, Dorothy Greco; four grandchildren, Michael Greco, Nichelle VanSteenburg (Ralph), Samuel Greco Jr., and Lisa Glogowski (Walter); and one great-grandson, Michael Greco; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Theresa will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend calling hours at Richards Funeral Home, 28 North Vernon St., Athens, N.Y., on Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018, from 4 to 7 p.m.

A Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018, at 10:30 a.m.. at St. Patrick’s R.C. Church, Athens, N.Y.

Interment will follow in the family plot of The Old Athens Rural Cemetery, Athens, N.Y., next to her late husband, Orlando Greco Sr.
