Margaret S. Lemon, 87, of Tivoli

Margaret S. Lemon, 87, of Tivoli, died Dec. 27, 2017.

Born July 28, 1930, in Hudson, she was the daughter of the late Floyd and Carrie (Rifenburgh) Smith.

Margaret was a member of St. Paul’s Trinity and Episcopal Church of Tivoli for 87 years; she also served as the church’s treasurer, was a member of its Women’s Club and the Vestry, Choir, and worked in the church’s Thrift Shop.

She was a member of the Tivoli Fire Company’s Auxiliary, the Harris Smith American Legion Post Auxiliary, and the Southern Tier Senior Citizens. Margaret volunteered at the Monumental Masonic Lodge, the Red Church Cemetery and for the Village of Tivoli.

She was the librarian for the Village of Tivoli Library for many years.

Survivors include her extended family: Claude Potts, Claudia (Donald) Stickle, Margaret Adeigbo, Annamarie Finney, Desiree Quinlan and Jackie Szatko.

She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur Lemon, who died Feb. 23, 2006.

There are no calling hours.

Services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018, at St. Paul’s Church of Tivoli.

Inurnment will follow in the church’s cemetery.

Memorial donations are requested to either St. Paul’s Trinity Church or the Tivoli Fire Company.
