Alberta Morgan Longendyke, 86, of Saugerties
SAUGERTIES » Alberta Morgan Longendyke, 86, of 155 Main St., entered into eternal rest after following a hardfought battle with cancer on Jan. 4, 2018, at Ten Broeck Commons Nursing Home, with her family by her side.
Born Sept. 8, 1931, in Saugerties, she was the daughter of the late William and Katherine Morgan. A lifetime area resident, she was a graduate of Saugerties High School, Class of 1949. She was last employed at the Saugerties Central Schools District’s Cahill School as a monitor in the cafeteria. Alberta was an active member of the Saugerties American Legion Auxiliary Post 72. She also served proudly on the Board of the Better Community Housing of Saugerties. She was a huge supporter of her granddaughters Nicole and Sarah’s sports, as well as her husband and sons, and she never missed a game. Predeceased family members include her husband, Ralph D.; son, Jeffrey; and granddaughter, Jessica Lynn Longendyke.
Survivors include her son, Ralph S. and his wife JoAnn of Glasco; granddaughters, Nicole M. Simmons (Gregory), Sarah W. Hoffmann (Michael) and Kristene Young (Jeff’s daughter); three greatgrandsons, Jack, James Simmons, and Lucas Hoffmann; and several nieces and nephews.
Her Service of Remembrance will be held on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2018, at 11 a.m. at the Saugerties Congregational Church. Family suggests donations in her memory to be made to the Sparrow’s Nest, P.O. Box 599, Glasco, N.Y. 12432.
