MONTGOMERY, N.Y. » Brian Moore poured in 28 points and Damani Thomas scored 15 Friday night as an undermanned Kingston team stepped up for an 81-39 boys basketball victory over Valley Central.

The Tigers suited just nine players with both Chris Wright and Calief Housen out sick and Thomas Huleatt on a college visit. Daivel Jackson and Jimmy Moot started as (8-2) Kingston went with a taller lineup.

The team took immediate charge with a 23-7 first quarter. Thomas scored seven of the Tigers’ first 11 points.

“Damani came out, dominated the game and then started distributing,” Kingston coach Ron Kelder said, “and we orchestrated and executed what we were trying to do. Brian played very well. He shot the ball very well. He was making them from mid-range and also hit a couple of threes.”

Moore was coming off of Wednesday’s 33-point perfor-

mance at Middletown.

“It was just a collective effort,” added Kelder, who saw big contributions from Moore (five rebounds, four assists, three steals), Thomas (six rebounds, five assists, three steals), Jackson (eight points, 11 rebounds, three steals), Moot (six points, nine rebounds), Garrett Warnecke (five points, five rebounds, three steals), Fritz Genther (eight points), Tyquan Watson (six points) and Chris Bamba (five points).

“It was nice to be able to get everybody in, get some minutes, some quality minutes. That’s something that we’ll need down the stretch,” he said.

Friday’s contest marked the end of a six-game road trip that had the Tigers going 4-2. Kingston plays its first home game in five weeks when it entertains Washingtonville on Tuesday.
