Tai chi class starts Jan. 29 in Hurley

Classes on tai chi for arthritis will start Monday, Jan. 29, from 1:15 to 2:15 p.m. at the Hurley Reformed Church, 11 Main St.

The classes will meet twice a week for eight weeks.

Tai chi’s benefits include increased strength, improved balance and posture, and fall prevention. It also reduces stress and supports relaxation.

It is asked that those who are interested make the commitment to be at this class twice a week for all eight weeks, as this is a program that builds on each class. Priority will be given to new participants.

An RSVP is required, as space is limited. To RSVP or for more information, call the Ulster County Office for the Aging at (845) 340-3456. The Wellness and Healthy Life Style Senior Breakfast Seminar (formerly known as Benecare Club) will meet on Wednesday, Jan. 17, at the food court at the Hudson Valley Mall, 1300 Ulster Ave.

Breakfast will be at 8:30 a.m. That will be followed by speaker Angela Katz at 9 a.m. She will share ways to stay mobile and protect yourself in cold, icy weather.

Call Gerry Harrington at (845) 334-4760 for more information.
