ATHENS, OHIO » Marjorie Daune Doig, 74, of Athens, Ohio, died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2018, at Grant Medical Center, Columbus, Ohio.

Born June 25, 1943, in Boiceville, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Grant and Alice Mae Barringer Avery.

Marjorie was a homemaker in the family home for many years. She was also a Certified Nursing Assistant, working at Golden Hill Infirmary in Kingston, N.Y., and a home health care aide in Ulster County, N.Y. She had been a resident of Athens since 2002. She was a member of Christ Community Wesleyan Church. She enjoyed reading, was an avid Bible Study student, and a Prayer Warrior. She was compassion­ate, concerned with the well-being of others, loyal, an all-out defender, and most importantl­y, loved Jesus Christ.

Marjorie is survived by two daughters, Beth (David) Ash of Albany, Ohio, and Shanna (Jeff) Neel of Athens, Ohio; a son, Shawn (Linda) Doig of Palenville, N.Y.; six adorable grandchild­ren, Jason Ash, Emily Ash, Devin Keever, Micah Doig, Skylar Keever, and Thomas Doig; and a sister, Rose (Richard) Hoffman of Shokan, N.Y.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a beloved granddaugh­ter, Rebekah Daune Mae Keever; two sisters, Helen Schmeltz and Alice Klercker; and three brothers, Frank, Alvin, and Grant Waldo Avery.

A funeral service was conducted Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018, at Christ Community Wesleyan Church, near Athens, Ohio. Burial will be in Tongore Cemetery, Olivebridg­e, N.Y., in the spring of 2018.

Arrangemen­ts will be with Lasher Funeral Home, Woodstock, N.Y. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributi­ons may be made to OhioHealth Foundation, memo: Gifts of Gratitude Grant Medical Center ICU, 111 S. Grant Ave., Columbus, Ohio 43215.
