YOUTH ON THE GO
Sundee Kroyer and Skylar Coons were named the Hunter-Tannersville Middle/ High School students of the month for December.
Kroyer, a ninth-grader, represents the “Maroon Group” (grades 7-9). She likes the camaraderie of participating in school plays and as had roles in “The Little Mermaid” and “The Lion King.” Music is one of her long-time interests. she plays the clarinet in the school band and is a member of the school chorus.
Krover has received numerous academic awards and has earned honor roll status every quarter since the beginning of middle school and all throughout elementary school as well. As a ninth-grader, she was on the Superintendent’s Honor Roll (overall academic average from 95 to 100 percent) for the first quarter.
Athletically, Krover has played on the modified softball team, the modified and varsity soccer teams, and the modified and junior varsity basketball teams. She has also played on the U14 Delaware County United Soccer Team and is currently a member of the U16Delaware County United Soccer Team. She will also be a member this year of the Hunter-Tannersville Ski Team.
Last winter, Krover was a member of the U14 Hunter Mountain Competition Ski Team and made it to the final round of the U14 New York SState Ski Racing Association competition and also qualified and competed in the Kandahar Champs Competition. She is currently a member of the U16 Hunter Mountain Competition Ski Team.
Krover has volunteered at the Mountaintop Historical Society Local History Day and also volunteered with the Kaaterskill Church Vacation Bible School, Sunday School and Community Suppers. For the past two years, she attended the Siena College Basketball Dr. Reham El-Shaer is happy to announce she is once again in the Kingston area for all your Gastroenterology needs. She is the daughter of Greg and MaryKate Kroyer of Jewett.
Coons, a senior, represents the “Gold Group” (grades 1012). She is the daughter of Ron and Jill Coons of West Kill. She is the president of the Ethel Slutzky National Art Honor Society, vice president of the Na- tional Honor Society and the Tri-M Music Honor Society, secretary of the Senior Class, treasurer of the Student Council and co-editor of the Yearbook. She is also a member of high school band, chorus, Glee Club and Varsity Club. In addition, she participates in the Northeast Instrumental Music Festival, the New York State School Music Association and the All-County Festivals each year.
Coons was the recipient of the Block “C” school letter, and was Student of the Month in May 2013and November 2015. At the Academic Awards Ceremony last spring, she received the following awards: Air Force Recruiting Service, Excellence in Math &Science Award, Clarkson University Achievement Award, The Sage Colleges Student Sage Scholar Award, Saint Michael’s College Book Award, and LeMoyne College Heights Award. She has remained on the Superintendent’s Honor Roll (overall academic average from 95 to 100 percent) every quarter throughout her middle and high school career.

Senior groups list meeting schedules
Kingston Chapter No. 2039 of AARP will meet Wednesday, Jan. 24, at 1 p.m. at Esopus Town Hall, 284 Broadway.
There will be an auction. Each member is asked to bring a $5 gift, wrapped, to be auctioned off. Please mark gift if it is for a female, male or generic. The proceeds will benefit the Scholarship Fund.
The next executive board meeting will be on Friday, Feb. 2, at 1 p.m. at Esopus Town Hall.
There will be a trip to the Sight & Sound Theater in Lancaster, Pa., to see “Jesus,” a new show, along with many other attractions.
The cost is $467 per person, double occupancy; $567 per person, single occupancy; and $455 per person, triple occupancy. A $100 deposit is required upon sign up. Checks should be made payable to AARP No. 2039.

Unity Service at New Paltz Church
New Paltz United Methodist Church, 1 Grove St., will host New Paltz-area churches for a Unity Service celebrating God’s love on Sunday, Jan.
21, at 2 p.m.
The liturgy will be led by all clergy in attendance. There will be music, a choral selection, a short dramatic presentation featuring youngsters from many
different congregations and tasty refreshments in the social hall after the service.
For this event, parking is available at lots for Coldwell Banker at 157 Main St. and Allen Ross at 153 Main St.

Kingston church welcomes new reverend
The Rev. Thomas E. Taylor has begun service as the new pastor at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 104 Wurts St.
Taylor holds a master of divinity degree from The Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia and a Master of Social work from the School of Social Work at Yeshiva University in New York City. He is a licensed social worker, trauma and grief counselor, and pastoral psychotherapist.
The reverend has served at several congregations throughout the region, and as a chaplain, firefighter and fire investigator in Sullivan and Nassau counties. He was a commissioned officer in the U.S. Naval Reserve. After the 2001 terrorist attacks, Taylor worked with many recovery workers and mental health professionals who were coping with the aftermath of the attacks. He has received numerous civic awards for his work.
