Police ID remains as man missing for year
CATSKILL, N.Y. » State police have positively identified the remains of a body as a man who was missing for more than a year, authorities said Wednesday.
The remains were found at the house in which the missing man last lived, police said.
State police at Catskill executed a warrant on Tuesday at 124 Tool House Road in Catskill and, as a result, recovered the remains of a body identified as Brandyn Dayne “Multy” Foster, 31, of Catskill, authorities said.
The remains were removed Tuesday, and police were still awaiting autopsy results Wednesday, according to Senior Investigator Peter Kusminsky.
Kusminsky would not say whether the death is considered a homicide, nor would he explain why police discovered Foster’s body on Tuesday after searching and excavating on Tool House Road in October. Kusminsky said additional information would be released Thursday or Friday.
Foster had been missing since January 2017 and last lived on the Tool House Road property, police said. Foster was a rapper and the son of jazz drummer Al Foster.
Investigators previously said Foster, who disappeared “without a trace” on Jan. 26, 2017, was not likely to be found alive.
Foster, 31, originally of Woodstock, was living in Catskill at the time of his disappearance. In October, Kusminsky said there was, “a strong indication that he is deceased.”
Kusminsky said Foster’s disappearance first was reported to Woodstock police on Jan. 26, 2017, by his mother, who lives in the town.
Foster’s disappearance was considered suspicious because he had “no contact whatsoever with family members,” Kusminsky said previously.
In October, police investigating Foster’s disappearance searched at two locations in the village of Catskill: 126 Tool House Road and 139 Broom St.. That work, which involved digging at both locations, resulted in “some items” being collected, Kusminsky said at the time.
