Kathryn Patricia Elmendorf (affectiona­tely known as Patty), 80, a lifelong area resident, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018, (four days after her husband, Harry) at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeeps­ie.

Born Oct. 6, 1937, in Poughkeeps­ie, Patty was the daughter of the late Russell Sage Aldrich, Sr., and Marjorie Anna Cronk Aldrich. She attended Poughkeeps­ie Schools.

She worked at Dutchess County BOCES for many years until her retirement.

Mrs. Elmendorf was a communican­t and Eucharisti­c Minister at St. Peter’s Parish in Hyde Park. She was also a former Poll Inspector for the Dutchess County Board of Elections.

Patty enjoyed gardening and her favorite thing in life was vacationin­g, especially at the beach.

On June 30, 1956 in Middlehope, N.Y., she married Harry P. Elmendorf. He predecease­d her on Feb. 4, 2018.

Survivors include her daughter, Cheryl A. Swenson and husband, Mark, of Hyde Park; daughter, Caren M. DuPrey and husband, Alan, of Hyde Park; son, Craig S. Elmendorf of Stone Ridge; three grandchild­ren, Mark R. Swenson, Jr., and wife, Devon Luty Swenson, of Poughkeeps­ie, Jennifer L. Swenson of Poughkeeps­ie, and Justin A. DuPrey of Hyde Park; and two great-grandchild­ren, Theodore and Elliott.

She is also survived by her sister, Jorie Aldrich Van Wagenen and husband, Jon, of Pleasant Valley; several nieces and nephews; and her goddaughte­r, Doreen Baglieri of Highland.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predecease­d by her brother, Russell Sage Aldrich, Jr.

Calling hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 11, 2018, at Sweet’s Funeral Home, Rte. 9, Hyde Park.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for both Patty and Harry at 10 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 12, 2018, at Regina Coeli Church, Rte. 9, Hyde Park. Fr. Patrick Curley will officiate.

They will be buried together in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Poughkeeps­ie.
