Rebecca Marko of Lake Worth, Fla., formerly of Kerhonkson, N.Y., passed away on Sunday, Feb. 4, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. She was 96 years old.

Rebecca was born on Nov. 20, 1921, in Brooklyn, N.Y.; she was the daughter of Benjamin and Fanny Skolnick.

On Aug. 16, 1946, Rebecca married Arnold Marko in New York City. They moved to Kerhonkson in 1971 where they started Arnold Marko Meats. Rebecca helped with the day-today operations of the family business until Arnold’s death in 1983. She eventually retired to Lake Worth, Fla., where she remained for 22 years. While there, she learned counted cross stitching. This became a relaxing pastime for her which grew into a great passion.

Rebecca is survived by her children, Brad Marko of Lake Worth, Fla., Mindy Gempel of Boynton Beach, Fla., and Monica Marko of Kerhonkson, N.Y.; four grandchild­ren, Erica DeWitt of Kerhonkson, Travis Gempel of Greenacres, Fla., Ashley Scuteri of Lake Worth, Fla., and Jeremy Gempel of West Palm Beach, Fla.; and her great-granddaugh­ter, Sofia Elizabeth Scuteri.

The family will be receiving friends at 12 noon on Monday, Feb. 12, 2018, with a funeral service beginning at 1 p.m. at Humiston Funeral Home Inc., 30 42nd St., Kerhonkson, N.Y. Burial will follow in the Kerhonkson Synagogue Cemetery, Boice Mill Rd., Kerhonkson. All are welcome.
