Roosevelt rallies to top Washington­ville

Roosevelt High surged late in the fourth to edge Washington­ville, 68-64, in a non-league girls basketball game on Thursday.

The Wizards grabbed the lead earlier in the fourth, after the (12-4) Presidents pulled within one at the end of third in a back-and-forth contest.

“We got a couple of steals, the girls are young team, but they managed to keep their composure,” said Roosevelt Coach Cliff Sauer said of the comeback.

Jaelen Daubon scored 17 points; Kamryn Hammond had 16; Kelse Demelis contribute­d 14 points; and Daliah Smith added 11 to power the Presidents.

Victoria Mirecki scored 27 points and Victoria Pecovic added 24 to carry Washington­ville. Highland 49, Marlboro 43

At Marlboro, Bri Rozzi scored 21 points, while Sam Garcia added 11, to lead the (15-1) Huskies.

Erin Lofaro scored 12 points, with Joyce Ryder adding nine points, in the loss for the Dukes. Wallkill 38, Monticello 16

At Wallkill, the Panthers led 25-9 at the half and never looked back in the non-league game.

Kiera Power scored 12 points and Chelsea Franklin added eight to lead Wallkill, which held Monticello to one basket in the fourth quarter.

Naszay Stergies had five points to pace Monticello.
