Onteora's Nolan wins Section 9 all-around
Onteora’s Nolan wins all-around title, while Roosevelt captures team crown at the Section 9 championship meet
Onteora High’s Abigail Nolan captured the allaround championship and Roosevelt took the team title on Tuesday at the Section 9 Gymnastics meet.
The section will have nine members competing in the New York State Public High School Athletic Association championships March 3 at Cold Spring Harbor.
Roosevelt has four qualifiers in Shannon Kelly, Dannika Bolitho, Emma Jaeger and Clara Patton. Kelly won the vault with an 8.525 score.
Bolitho was second all-around with 33.025 points. She was second on the floor (9.00), third in both the balance beam (8.25) and vault (8.425) and fourth on the uneven parallel bars (7.35).
Nolan became Onteora’s first all-around champion since Sarah Thompson won 13 years ago.
She totaled 34.00 points as she captured the bars (7.875) and the floor (9.225). She was second on
both the vault (8.475) and beam (8.425).
Highland’s Valerie Precour edged out Nolan for the beam title, scoring an
8.45 to Nolan’s 8.425.
Roosevelt won with 155.475 points. Wallkill was runner-up with 147.5.
