Jennifer “Jen” Hermance, 42, of High Falls passed away peacefully on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2018, at Westcheste­r Medical Center, surrounded by her husband Karl and close family. Jen fought a long, hard battle with cancer.

She was born in Kingston on Sept. 15, 1975, to Chuck Orr and Dorine Shuman. She was a 1993 graduate of Rondout Valley High School.

Jen was extremely hard working. Some of her employment included waitressin­g at the High Falls Cafe and working as a medical receptioni­st at Hudson Valley Family Physicians. One of her favorite jobs was being a daycare provider.

First and foremost with Jen was her love for family and friends. A few other things she loved were turtles, pasta and chicken parm, summer, the beach, and gardening.

Jen is survived by her husband, Karl; her children, Kyle, Rachel, Sara, and Morgan; her father, Charles Orr and his wife Louise of Wells, N.Y.; her mother, Dorine Shuman of Kingston; and her sisters, Stacey Tyler of Montana, Virginia Barringer of Kerhonkson, and Ann Harbeck of Montana. Also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, close friends, and neighbors.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, 2018, at the George J. Moylan Funeral Home Inc., 2053 Route 32, Rosendale. Her funeral service will be at 2 p.m. following the visitation. Rev. Arlene Dawber will officiate.
