Nora Drefin, 90, of Saugerties

Nora Drefin died Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2018, at home. She was 90 years old.

Born July 24, 1927, in Yonkers, N.Y., she was the daughter of James and Susan Meeghan Lyons.

On June 8, 1947, she married Herbert Drefin, who predecease­d her on May 29, 1984.

She was a parishione­r of St. John the Evangelist Church in Centervill­e and a member of the Altar Rosary Society. She was also a member of the Saugerties Senior Citizens Club and the Red Hatters. Nora was an avid card player.

Throughout the years, she was employed at Jack’s Dress Factory on Partition Street, the shoe factory on High Street, as a home health care aide, and at Ferroxcube as an inspector.

Survivors include her son, Wayne Drefin of Saugerties; her nieces and nephews, Susie Sep, Robin Terrasky, Susan Lyons, Peggy McRae, and Sven and Silka Benz.

She was predecease­d by her daughter, Susan; her sons, Larry and Alan; her sister, Anne Robbins, her brother, Johnny Lyons; and her cousin, Liane Benz.

A funeral procession will form at 9:15 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018, at Buono Funeral Service Inc., Main Street Chapel, Saugerties, N.Y., and then proceed to St. John the Evangelist Parish Center in Centervill­e, where at 10 a.m., a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will occur in the spring in Mount Marion Cemetery.

Friends may call Friday from 4 until 8 p.m. at Buono Funeral Service Inc. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Nora’s memory be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
