Wallace W. “Chooch” Peters Jr., 87, of Main Street, died Friday, Feb. 23, 2018, at Kingston Hospital.

Born April 19, 1930, in Saugerties, he was the son of the late Wallace and Theresa Sweeney Peters.

A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served during the Korean War and was honorably discharged with a Distinguis­hed Service Award. After returning home, he began a career working at FL Russell Corp., LoDolce Machinery and retiring from Methods Tooling. Active in the community, he belonged to the Saugerties American Legion Post 72, the Saugerties Fire Department and the Algonquin Archery Club. He was an avid bowler and member of the Saugerties Bowlers Club Thursday Nite Men’s League, and the SAA, where in later years he and his wife ran the concession stand each year for the Labor Day Northeast Solite Softball Tournament. In his early years, he loved to roller skate and ice skate.

Survivors include his wife, the former Betty Wolven; two daughters, Bonnie (Jonathan D.) Eisenhamer of Fallston, Md., and Terry Lasher of Saugerties. A grandson, Jonathan A. Eisenhamer, and several other grandchild­ren, nieces and nephews also survive. He was predecease­d by two sisters, Sue O’Connor and Eleanor Wolven, and a brother, Robert “Bif” Peters, and a daughter, Nancy Smith.

His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home Inc., corner of John and Lafayette streets, Saugerties. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. Friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Expression­s of condolence may be shared with the family at Seamon Wilsey Funeral Home.
