App helps address gaps in food system

The Community Foundations of the Hudson Valley and Hudson Valley AgriBusiness Development Corp. have pooled their resources to leverage technology to address gaps in the food system through a new web/ mobile app, FeedHV.org, powered by ChowMatch.

Community Foundations of the Hudson Valley has been investing in huger relief programs since 2014 through its Farm Fresh Food grant program. Program partners and emergency feeding stakeholders requested a tool to better address the persistent challenges of hunger in the Hudson Valley, according to a press release. In response, the agency worked with an app developer to create FeedHV. The app employs a simple matching process to link food donations to distribution agencies through a network of volunteers.

Early adopters of the app have been consistently conveying fresh food to those who need it most, according to the release.
