Area students stand out at state tournament

Two Kingston students and one from Highland posted top-10 performances at the state high school bowling tourney.

Taylor Brady and Jarred Schwark of Kingston, plus Highland’s Lenny Casabura, posted top-10 performances at the New York State Public High School Athletic Association’s bowling championships at the Oncenter Convention Center.

Brady registered the highest game rolled by a female competitor at the meet with a 243. She also registered a 220 game en route to a six-game 1069 for eighth place in the Division 1 (large school) class.

Schwark led the Kingston boys with a ninth-place 1117 in Division I action. He had 216 and 211 high games.

Izayah Wells was 15th for Kingston with a 1056, which included 223 and 208 games. Jordan Thomas was 18th for the Tiger girls with a 941 topped by a closing 178 game.

The Tigers’ boys were sixth overall in the division, while the girls were ninth.

Casabura was ninth for Highland in Division 2 with a 1089. He posted a 206 and finished his meet with a 214 single. Highland’s boys and girls both placed ninth.

Section 9’s composite teams, comprised of Saugerties and

Roosevelt athletes, were 10th in the girls and 11th in the boys.

Saugerties’ Darian Wood was 12th overall with her 1060 pinfall. She recorded 185, 186, 183 and 189 games.
