Ted Hofbauer, 55, of Katy, Texas

KATY, TEXAS » On Friday, March 9, 2018, Ted Hofbauer passed away suddenly in Katy, Texas, at the age of 55.

Theodore “Ted” Hofbauer was born on April 3, 1962, in Kingston, N.Y., to Theodore Edward and Mattie Rose Beesmer Hofbauer. He proudly served his country as an engineer in the U.S. Navy for eight years.

Ted had great faith in God. He always held his family close to his heart and made incredible sacrifices for them. Ted had many passions: participating in lively debates, telling corny jokes, smoking meat, and most recently, artisan breadmaking. He served as the world’s greatest dance dad to his three daughters and loved spending countless hours with his little hunting and baseball buddy, Theo. Ted adored Eileen, his wife of 26 years, and made sure she never wanted for anything. He loved cracking open a cold one while enjoying the company of friends and family. Though he was taken too soon, and precious time was lost, he left behind some of the greatest memories and a profound sense of loss by all who hold him dear.

He is survived by his wife, Eileen; children, Abigail (fiancé, Matthew Johnson), Kiersten, Emma, and Theodore IV; parents, Mattie and Ted Hofbauer; siblings, Terri Cruz, Tim Hofbauer (Phyllis), and Cindy Turner (Carleton); many nieces and nephews; as well as other family and dear friends.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at the Schmidt Funeral Home Grand Parkway, where a rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 15, 2018, at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, in Katy, with Rev. Nicolas Ramirez, Celebrant. Interment with military honors will follow at Houston National Cemetery.
