ROSENDALE » Christel F. Iljin, 91, of Kallop Road, Rosendale, N.Y., passed away Friday, March 9, 2018, at Albany Medical Center.

Born in Klein Wessel, West Prussia (now Poland), on Sept. 10, 1926; she was one of seven children of the late Karl and Luise Schwarz. A survivor of World War II, she immigrated from Germany to New York City with her two children in 1952 and became a U.S. Citizen in 1964.

She became a permanent resident of Rosendale in 1972 and was a fixture at Williams Lake Hotel, where she worked for over 30 years, retiring at the age of 80. She enjoyed time with her friends and family, gambling and travel, especially

to Germany to visit relatives.

She is survived by her daughter, Renate Luise (James) McGuire; son, Alexander Iljin; grandchild­ren, Brian J. McGuire and Jennifer L. (Hans) McGuire-Soellner; and her beloved great-granddaugh­ter, Julia Christel. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews in Germany, as well as her extended McGuire, Fuller, Jawor, and Homan families to whom she will always be “Oma”; and her Williams Lake family,

with whom she spent many fun hours with.

Cremation arrangemen­ts are under the guidance of George J. Moylan Funeral Home, 2053 Rte. 32, Rosendale, where a Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2018, from noon to 3 p.m. at the funeral home.
