David F. Quesnell, 88, of Saugerties

SAUGERTIES » David F. Quesnell, 88, of Appletree Drive died Sunday, March 11, 2018, at his residence surrounded by his family after a prolonged illness.

Born Dec. 21, 1929, in Oswego, he was the son of the late Vern and Helen Patterson Quesnell. A proud veteran of the U.S. Army, he served during the Korean War. A Saugerties area resident since 1966, Dave had a 40-year career with the NY Telephone Company, retiring in 1990 as a Supervisor.

Active in the Community, he was a Past Exalted Ruler and Chaplain of Saugerties Elks Lodge #2574. He could be found helping at the Annual Elks Hoop Shoot or Golf Tournament, as well as being the first chairman of the very popular 400 Club at the Lodge. He also held longtime memberships in the Saugerties Knights of Columbus, American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post.

Survivors include his wife, the former Shirley Mayer, with whom he recently celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary. Two sons, Donald (Kathy) Quesnell of Kingston and

James (Carol) Quesnell of Saugerties; three daughters, Barbara (Eric) Eberhardt of Delmar, Mary (Murray) Fothergill of Meaford, Canada, and Kathleen Ehrmann of Saugerties; one brother, Richard (Linda) Quesnell of Florida; 15 grandchildren, Randy, Daniel, Donald, David, Jacob, Timothy, Amanda, Chris, Stephanie, Andrea, Steve, Jenny, Nicole, Caleb, and Greg; ten great-grandchildren. Several nieces, nephews, and his canine companion, Shadow, also survive. He was predeceased by a grandchild, Michael McMahon.

His Funeral Procession will form 10:15 a.m. Friday

at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc. corner of John and Lafayette Sts. Thence to St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church where at 11 a.m. a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered. Interment with military honors will be held in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Friends will be received on Thursday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Family suggests donations in his memory be made to Hudson Valley Hospice, who made it possible to keep Dave home amongst family at the end of life.
