Astor employee charged with endangerment
Police say the incident for which Katherine S. Campbell, 29, of Poughkeepsie, was arrested involved a child.
A childcare worker at Astor Services for Children & Families surrendered to village police and was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, police said Thursday.
Katherine S. Campbell, 29, of Poughkeepsie, was charged Wednesday following an investigation at Astor Services for Children & Families, 6339 Mill St. (Route 9), according to Rhinebeck Police Sgt. Peter Dunn.
He said the incident involved a child age 15 or younger, and he declined to elaborate because the alleged victim is a juvenile.
Dunn said he was unsure of Campbell’s current employment status at Astor.
Astor Executive Director James McGuirk said the facility is “fully cooperating with law enforcement” but that he “can’t talk about employee issues.” He also would not say how long Campbell worked for Astor.
Campbell was arraigned in Rhinebeck Village Court and released with an appearance ticket.
Astor Services for Children & Families says on its website that it is “a community-based, nonprofit organization that provides children’s mental health services, child welfare services and early childhood development programs” for “children and families in New York state’s MidHudson Valley region and the Bronx.”
